Wheeling residents will soon have a say in whether the city will build a new public safety building.
And the proposal has picked up a big endorsement.
Wheeling Professional Fire Fighters Local 12 has officially endorsed the proposed multi-million dollar Public Safety Building.
Tom Haluscak, the president of Wheeling Professional Fire Fighters Local 12, says the big thing they are really pushing for is the simple fact of safety and most of the buildings are in pretty bad shape.
“This is a building that is meant to last and these renovations are going to last us long into the next two to three decades,” he said. “Plus a fire truck is something we always need as far as responding to fires and emergencies.”
He said he knows it’s a tough sell because taxes will be raised but members of the fire and police departments will be paying them as well.
If you have any questions police and firefighters said they’ll answer anything you might need to know .
And they said Knowledge is key in making this building happen.
