In honor of Autism Awareness Day, the Augusta Levy Learning Center hosted an event to show people what services are available in our area for anyone with Autism.
The event included a wide range of organizations such as the Wheeling Police and Fire Departments, as well as Oglebay Institute and Turn It Out Dance Company, which offers a dance class for special needs students.
There was also insurance information available.
“We have phone calls everyday from families looking to gain services for their children or family members who have a developmental disability or who have been diagnosed with Autism. We just wanted to give them a way to come in and see different resources available to then in the Ohio Valley,” said Staci Stephen, Director of Development at the Augusta Levy Learning Center.
Stephen said she was happy with Tuesday’s turn out, and hopes that next year will be even better.
