On Friday, the West Virginia Roughriders, along with Richie the Rider, made a special stop at one local school.
They visited students at Woodsdale Elementary to about talk life, football, and the importance of education in their young lives.
As an extra special gift, the Roughriders gave the students free tickets to Monday Night’s game at WesBanco Arena.
7News caught up with some of the players who said they love to visit the kids.
“It’s always special when you have a team coming to your school. We love to give back our time and tell the kids how important it is to finish school and to pursue their dreams and goals,” said Noel Devine, Wide Receiver.
“It’s very special to the kids. I know when I was growing up, I would always look at adults and see them doing this in the neighborhood. As role models and pro-athletes, this is great for the kids,” added Larry Beavers, Wide Receiver.
The Roughriders face off against the Youngstown Federals on Monday, April 15.
Kick off is at 7 p.m. at Wesbanco Arena.
