Senator Joe Manchin made a stop in Wheeling this evening to meet with people at Wheeling Coffee and Spice.

He touched on issues like free and fair trade with countries like China.

Manchin said he hopes President Trump will re-establish and re-negotiate bi-lateral trade deals with Canada and Mexico, as well.

He also touched on the recent tax cuts made by the President saying they came out anything but good for the middle class.

Another big topic today was healthcare which Manchin said has to be fixed since it accounts for a big chunk of the economy.

Sen. Joe Manchin (D) West Virginia said, “People that are buying in the private market are getting killed. If you have any of your family members who are buying insurance, they can’t afford it. They just can’t afford it. So Republicans have used it and said ‘well, that’s why we should get rid of Obamacare.’ No, what we should do is fix it. We knew it was broke from day one, but we didn’t fix it.”

Those in attendance were also able to ask Senator Manchin questions.

He is up for re-election in November with Republican and current Attorney General Patrick Morrisey running against him.
