As the temperature drops, one Wheeling Jesuit student is doing her part to share the warmth.
After three years, drive organizer Donae Albert says she has collected over 700 scarves to keep people in Wheeling warm.
This year Donae hopes to collect even more scarves, and also gloves. She said the biggest reward is actually seeing people helped by the donations.
“A couple weeks ago I was driving home from school and I saw a lady wearing this rainbow scarf with fringe on the end and it turns out that’s one my grandma had knitted for this collection. It’s really excited to see people actually using what you worked for, it melts your heart,” said Albert.
You can help by bringing gloves and scarves to Catholic Charities or to a donation box between Acker and Donahue on Wheeling Jesuit’s campus.
The collection will run through January, if you have questions, Donae can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
