Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Abdalla saved an overdosing man’s life early Thursday morning

According to a report from the Jefferson County Sheriffs Department, Sheriff Fred Abdalla saved a man overdosing inside a gas station bathroom.

The Sheriff stopped at the Speedway at the intersection of Washington and 3rd in downtown Steubenville at 12:51 a.m.

The report said the Sheriff walked inside the unlocked bathroom and found a man on the floor, unconscious, not breathing, with a loaded needle next to him and drugs on the sink.

The Sheriff reportedly called an ambulance and began giving Narcan to the man

According to the report, the Sheriff gave three rounds fo Narcan, 4 mg, 4mg, and 2mg, before he started breathing on his own.

The man was taken to Trinity West and is still there this morning.

According to the report, the loaded needle and other evidence was taken into custody. The man is reportedly being held with a detainer in the hospital, and will be taken into custody for drug abuse when he is released.
