As state fair season begins officials are offering tips to stay virus free.
With younger children often in attendance at local fairs, health officials urge parents to be more cautious when petting the animals.
They said to keep track of what the kids are putting their hands on.
One of the biggest concerns at the fair each year is animal handling.
Harrison County Health Department Administrator, Garen Rhome said, “One of the big warning when fair season comes around in all counties across the state of Ohio is we want to remind people the simple act of proper hand washing before and after you handle the animals, if your doing a show, or if you are just petting the animals as a patron.”
Rhome said it all comes down to just practicing proper hygiene.
