Two faces familiar in the city of Moundsville are now officially leading the fire department.
It’s a part of the healing process after the department has been hit by tragedy over the last few months.

“We kind of had each others backs going through everything we went through to make sure everything operated correctly,” said Assistant Chief Kevin Kimple.

After working together for the last 11 years, a new team took the oath of office together.

New Chief Gary Brandon and Assistant Chief Kevin Kimple are excited, but they said it’s bittersweet, they have some big shoes to fill.

“Whenever Chief Clarke was here he ran the department. He did everything. He left a huge hole. Hopefully, Kevin and I can fill that hole and continue on as great as he did,” said Chief Gary Brandon.

Emotional with their friends and family watching, Chief Brandon said it finally makes things official, after taking on their roles about 8 months ago. Their new focus is training the 4 men and 1 woman on the department.

“We are currently working on upping our staff for the future with the cracker plant and all the other businesses coming into Moundsville, but we’ll see what that has in plan for us,” said Brandon.

The team said they are excited to get to work, making the department stronger than ever.

“We love Noel. Noel was like a brother to us, and we hope we do half the job that he did,” said Brandon.
