The Urban Mission of Steubenville received a $10,000 grant from the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley.
The grant will be used for the mission’s Fresh Start Program.
Urban Mission Executive Director Rev. Ashley Steele told 7News the program is an extension of the Jobs for Life program. The Fresh Start program addresses the long term needs of those transitioning from poverty to a self-sufficient livelihood.
“Not only will we be able to help people with the soft skills they will need, to be able to utilize those skills, they’ll also get hands on training in some of the programs we have her at the Urban Mission,” Steele explained.
The Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley called these programs great examples of projects that are happening to strengthen the Ohio Valley.
The grant funding makes it possible for organizations like the Urban Mission to provide these valuable opportunities.
