Vagabond Chef preparing ‘$20,000 meal’ for Wheeling Health Right Chef’s Auction

Local restaurants and chefs are getting ready for the 25th annual Wheeling Health Right Chef’s Auction.

The showcase of area cuisine is Friday, May 4 at WesBanco Arena. 

Vagabond Chef and winner of Guy’s Grocery Games, Matt Welsch is preparing the dish that won him $20 thousand dollars on the the popular Food Network show.

“Which will be our adult mac and cheese, garlic cheesy mashed potatoes, the haricot vert with red peppers and portabella mushrooms and then the boneless pork loin with a demi glace and apple chutney,” said Welsch of his Chef’s Auction tasting menu.

The Chef’s Auction allows people to go around to different stations by restaurants all over the Ohio Valley to sample food, and then vote on their favorite at the end. 

There are also dozens of baskets up for auction. 

The event also features live music by De’jaVu, a cash bar, and a live auction. 

Tickets are $85 per person, or $150 per couple. 

All proceeds benefit Wheeling Health Right.
