Ohio Valley residents react to upcoming visit from Vice President Pence

WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) - Vice President Pence will be visiting the Ohio Valley for the "Tax Cuts to Put America First" event on Thursday.

It will be held at the Glessner Ballroom at Oglebay Resort and Conference Center in Wheeling.

The last time a sitting Vice President visited the Ohio Valley was in 2012, when Joe Biden came to Martins Ferry.

Most residents who spoke to 7News had a positive reaction to the Vice President's visit to the Ohio Valley.

Debby Elosh of Washington County said, "I think it is quite an honor. I mean of all the places he could go to he picks this little town and I really appreciate that he's coming here."

Others were equally excited about the news.

"I think that's a wonderful thing to have a Vice President take the time to come and visit us and I just pray that God puts his blessing upon the trip," said Jeanie and Frank Heller from Moundsville.

"I think it's great! Go Trump," added Mike Holland.

Some think the visit will be even more beneficial for the community.

"I think it's great for the community, having him come to the community and being a part of it," added Harrison Thompson," who used to live in West Virginia. "It's really a good thing and he can take back the good things of this community back to the president."

Doors open at 12:30 p.m. with the event starting at 2:30 p.m.

If you wish to attend the event there is a registration form on America First Policies website.
