Many of us know the name, Warwood Tool.
The company has been forging tools by hand for the past 165 years.
Now the U.S. Small Business Administration knows their name too.
In fact, the SBA’s West Virginia district office named Warwood Tool the 2019 Small Business Exporter of the Year.
Warwood Tool Vice President Phillip Carl said receiving this award means a lot to the company.
He said the recognition alone means they must be doing something right in this age of globalization and shrinking manufacturing industry.
“It’s an honor. It’s really, really exciting to have that little validation that we’re growing and we’re expanding. Our name is becoming a little more prevalent in the Valley, but also above and beyond the Valley to other markets and countries. It’s cool,” Carl said.
A ceremony recognizing all award winners in the state is set for Wednesday, May 8 at the Robert H. Mollohan Research Center in Fairmont.
Secretary of State Mac Warner will attend the celebration as the keynote speaker.
