WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) - Business is booming for Brew Keepers, a locally owned artisan brewery in the Centre Market area in Wheeling.
The business is looking to expand their business to allow guest to sit down and enjoy their craft beers at a new location. Currently, they make and distribute their beer just behind Studio MC, but they cannot serve their beer there.
Tuesday at the Wheeling City Council meeting, the owners of the business asked for permission to move forward with the purchase of a new building and permission was granted.
"We're excited about this, we think some of the other bars and restaurants are excited about this in Centre Market. We think this will help continue to make Centre Market a destination location where people go for craft beer, where they go to eat, where they go to spend their leisure time," said Wheeling Vice-Mayor, Chad Thalman.
Brew Keepers is looking to buy the building right next door to the Wheeling Brewing Company at 2245 Market Street.
The business had to seek permission from city council, because there is an ordinance in place that prohibits the sale of alcohol within 1,000 feet of a church, and the new location would put within that designation.
