If you’re looking for a way to shop local and get fresh food and produce– the Wheeling Farmers’ Market starts up again on Saturday!
Every year, the Farmers’ Market is held in the St. Michael’s parking lot on National Road in Wheeling from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
It runs every Saturday through October, and available goods change depending on the time of the season.
“With the recent outbreaks we’ve seen throughout the nation, with romaine lettuce and egg recalls, to be able to talk with to farmers and ask how do you grow? What do you spray? When did you pick it? How do you fertilize? Is it safe? These are all great questions and that’s the kind of interaction you find at the market,” said Milt Gutman, a Farmers’ Market vendor.
If you’re interested in being a vendor, you can pick up an application at the WVU Ohio County Extension Office on 16th Street in Wheeling.
Gutman said there will also be four, special Farmers’ Market events.
