Wheeling Salvation Army looking to help students with supplies

It might be several weeks before kids head back to school, but the shelves at local stores are filled with back to school supplies.

If you’re a parent, especially of multiple students, you know just how expensive back to school supplies can be.

The Wheeling Salvation Army just received a donation of 400 backpacks, and they’re looking for help filling them with supplies for students grades K through 12.

“School supplies are very expensive and that’s why we’re coming to the community to help those that are less fortunate, and to help the community step up. This community is a great community and they have helped the Salvation Army in many, many ways. And I feel this is just one more way that they can continue to show their support and love for the Salvation Army and allow the Salvation Army to do the most good in our community,” said Pastor and Administrator of the Salvation Army, Captain Benny Carringer.

They’re in need of the typical supplies, notebook paper, folders, pens, pencils, and more.

You can also drop off monetary donations at 140 16th Street Wheeling, WV 26003.
