Wheeling, W.Va. (WTRF) - If you are heading to the Capitol Theatre on Friday for this season's opening show, you will see a different conductor in front of the orchestra.
As the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra gets ready to open the curtain on the season, the search for a music director continues.
They do have the search down to five candidates, who will each conduct two shows for the symphony.
Timothy Hankewich, will be conducting Friday's show and he's excited to bring in the season and wrap up the summer with a fun summer theme, which honors the Beach Boys.
"Working on this show, I just realized that's sort of where doo wop meets the Beatles in history and that sound of the tight harmony," Hankewich said. "That's what i like so much about this music."
This will be his first of two shows conducted by Hankewich. The second one is scheduled for October.
Friday's concert is called "Surf's Up! A Tribute to the Beach Boys" and is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Capitol Theatre.
