Racing fans congregated at Talladega Speedway in Alabama on Friday for the annual ARCA series General Tire 200.
One of the drivers, Travis Braden, is a Wheeling native. His family did not make the trip to Talladega, but they had their own viewing party for him at Quaker Steak & Lube at The Highlands.
“He was pretty dedicated,” said Tim Braden. “That’s the main thing. I knew he never lost his dedication to win. You see it all the time, somebody just loses interest and then it’s over but he’s never lost interest and he’s never lost dedication.”
Tim said he usually doesn’t talk to Travis in the days leading up to a race. The Braden family will be cheering Travis on next week in Nashville.
As for the General Tire 200, Braden placed seventh, his third top-ten finish this season.
