January is a busy month for West Liberty University’s Hilltop Players.
On Thursday night, in front of an audience, they had their final run-through of the student-directed production, “The Secret in the Wings.”
The Hilltop Players were selected to participate in the Region Two Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, which will be held January 15-20 at Montclair State University in New Jersey.
“The festival as a whole is a mixture of workshops and different plays, but the festival also sponsors faculty from all around the region coming to see plays put on at other schools,” explained student director Callie Carroll. “If you choose, you can enter your play to be selected to perform at festival in front of all the schools and staff and faculty of your region. We did that this year and we got overwhelming reviews, and they ended up selecting us for performance at the festival next week.”
The play is comprised of five different fairytales written by Mary Zimmerman.
West Liberty’s associate professor of theater, Michael Aulick, oversaw the student-run production.
