Woodsdale Elementary hosts second Let’s Play 5K

Woodsdale Elementary hosted its second Let’s Play 5K Saturday to help raise funds for their playground project.

420 runners and walkers, from children to adults, registered for the race through Woodsdale.

Principal Ashlea Minch is hopeful that this will be the fundraiser that helps them reach their goal.

There are plans to install the new playground this summer.

Aside from raising funds, Minch says the event brings the community together.

“The Woodsdale community is the school. They all work together. The amount of sponsors that you see on the back of our shirts right now, that’s just out of the generosity of their heart. They want to be involved in this. I’m always very shocked at how everybody works together, and it just warms my heart every year. This is just amazing to see all these people out here,” said Minch.

Minch says even after the playground is installed, they plan to continue the Let’s Play 5K every year.

WTRF is proud to sponsor this event.
