As substance abuse continues to wreak havoc on the Ohio Valley, additional resources come in to help people understand the issue and possible solutions.
Through it’s Student Activities, West Virginia Northern Community College has two events in conjunction with National Substance Abuse Prevention Month.
On Monday, WVNCC screened the documentary “Recovery Boys” in the auditorium of the B&O Building in downtown Wheeling.
The event’s organizer said this documentary quite literally hits home.
“There is one individual in the documentary that is from south Wheeling,” explained WVNCC Director of Student Activities Sara Wood. “His name is Adam and he’s followed throughout the film, his struggles with opioid addiction. We felt it was very important, as our campus is in Wheeling as well, to have this community education event.”
West Virginia Northern Community College will also have a training session Tuesday at noon on how to safely use a naloxone atomizer to reverse effects of an opioid overdose.
