Westlake Chemical ‘incident’ temporarily shuts down portion of Route 2; three workers sent to hospital

MARSHALL COUNTY, W.VA. (WTRF) — WV Route 2 was shut down Sunday evening due to what emergency personnel are calling an ‘incident at Westlake Chemical’.

Marshall County EMA Director Tom Hart tells 7NEWS that three workers were injured and they have since been taken to the hospital. One was transported to a local hospital by ambulance and the other two were transported by plant personnel.

Route 2 was closed south of Burch Ridge in both directions according to a Marshall County 9-1-1 Dispatcher.

Officials say the incident at Westlake Chemical has been contained. 

No other details were given.
