‘Monkeys are out to get me’ said woman trying to take baby, says report

A woman is accused of entering a home and trying to take a baby, according to a report from Spartanburg Co. Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina.

It happened on 5th St. in Inman, S.C. on August 31 around 9:30 a.m.

A man said he heard a noise upstairs in the baby’s room so he went to check it out.

He found a woman he didn’t know on top of the dresser “trying to hide.”

He asked her what she was doing and she said multiple times, “give me the baby. I got to go, they are coming.”

She then tried to grab the baby from his wife, according to the report.

The woman then laid down in the front yard for a few minutes before she went in to the house next door.

The man said the door to his home was locked.

The man at the home next door said a woman in a red dress walked in to his home and started rambling for help.

He told her to leave and she got down on her hands and knees.

He said they grabbed the woman by her arm and drug her outside.

The woman then laid down in some tree branches outside to try to hide from police, according to the man.

Deputies arrived and began struggling with the woman to get her into the back of a patrol vehicle, according to the report.

They say the woman was identified as Brandi Nichole Almond.

The report said she kept yelling that the “monkeys are out to get me” as the tried to restrain her.

She has been charged with kidnapping conspiracy and two count of third-degree burglary, according to jail records.
