Authoriities have confirmed that a man’s body was found in the Ohio River Sunday morning.
Wheeling Police and Fire Departments responded to a call around 1:30 a.m. about a potential body found on the back channel of the river near Bridgeport, Ohio.
The body willl head to the West Virginia Medical Examiner’s Office in Charleston for positive identification. Authorities say this process can take weeks.
In the meantime, Wheeling Police say the department will look into possible missing persons cases with the help of regional law enforcement agencies.
