Drivers are not happy about the recent changes to the University Boulevard intersection of Route 7 in Steubenville.
Apparently, drivers are frustrated with the lack of clarity about the lane markings that guide vehicles onto the University Boulevard ramp.
7News stumbled across several Facebook posts from annoyed drivers about their confusion with the new intersection and even saw video from the dash cam of a truck driver going southbound on Route 7 when a vehicle traveling northbound, tried turning onto the University Boulevard ramp but drove straight into on-coming traffic instead.
We took these concerns to the Ohio Department of Transportation. They said they’re monitoring the intersection and are holding a meeting on Tuesday to discuss potential solutions for clearing up some of these problems.
In the meantime, ODOT is urging drivers to take extra precaution while traveling through this area.
“The speed limit through this area is 35 miles per hour,” said Lauren Borell, the public information officer for ODOT District 11. “We ask that you obey all speed limit laws as well as just take your time, watch for signage and especially, don’t drive distracted.”
We called the Ohio State Highway Patrol in Wintersville to learn of any reported accidents from these road changes and they had no comment.
