One local organization payed tribute to National Crime Victims Awareness Week in an engaging way.
Centre Market became the center stage as the Wheeling YWCA teamed up with several local businesses to create a performance series called “Reality at a Glance.”
The event featured five performances focusing on five core crimes and challenges people face both forcefully and voluntarily.
Local actors portrayed characters dealing with domestic violence, homelessness, LGBTQ hate crime, drug addiction and human sex trafficking.
“These are things that could happen to people I know in places I’ve been,” said Ron Scott, Director, Wheeling YWCA and creative genius and script writer for the event.
Scott said he partnered with other directors and their clients within the organization to make the scenes as raw and authentic as possible.
