Memorial Day weekend was a busy one for Wheeling Police and EMS crews, as a number of overdoses were reported in a two-day span.

Four people overdosed over the weekend, one on Friday and three on Saturday.

Currently, there isn’t much connecting the four overdoses, however three of them occurred in the South and Center Wheeling areas. The other was on Mount Wood Road.

“And they were saved by Narcan. So it’s lucky that they are still alive and still around. All the incidents are under investigation at this time. There’s information obviously I can’t give out. But we believe that they are either heroin and or fentanyl involved. Whether it’s the same connection or not, we can’t speak at this time. But it is under investigation. Hopefully we will make some inroads into finding out the source of this particular drug,” said Wheeling Police Deputy Chief Marty Kimball.

The investigation into the overdoses continues. Stay with 7News for any details as they become available.
