The two brothers accused in an Ohio County murder case dating back to May appeared in court for their pre-trial hearings on Wednesday.
Jordan Willie Davis III, and DeAndre Davis went before Judge David Sims.
They are each charged in the May 9 murder of Ahmid Hinton on South Penn Street on Wheeling Island.
Jordan Willie Davis III went before Judge Sims first. His trial was set for January 3, but both sides asked for more time in the case. He willingly bound his trial over to the next term of Ohio County Court.
Evidence and testimony was also presented in his case, as two Wheeling Police detectives involved in the case took the stand regarding his questioning. The evidence handed over included copies of those interviews.
The tentative trial date for Jordan Willie Davis III is set for the week of February 18.
De’Andre Davis was the second to go before Judge Sims. His trial date, also scheduled for January 3, was pushed back.
De’Andre Davis’ case will be brought back on ‘docket day’ in mid-January.
The prosecution and defense are looking into ways to transport the jury to a few key locations in the murder case.
“We’ve got two very important locations- and the second location in North Wheeling where the gun was recovered- I have talked to the ballistics expert, and that is the murder weapon. There are two other guns that were submitted, and just to have complete testing, we ask that all guns be tested. But the gun located at Main Street Terrace is in fact the gun that fired the bullets found in the autopsy,” said Ohio County Prosecuting Attorney Shawn Turak during the proceeding.
Officers responded to the scene on Wheeling Island after they were patrolling the area and heard between eight and 10 shots.
