The trial of one of the two defendants in the Belmont Memorial Park Cemetery case has begun.
Karen Sue Neff is charged with forgery, aggravated theft and secure writing by deception. It involves at least $150,000 from the cemetery funds that allegedly were taken.
The alleged theft came to light after people began to complain that routine maintenance was not being done at their loved ones’ plots.
It happened between January 2013 and December 2017.
Judge John Vavra told jurors the trial will last three days.
