In Belmont County, officials are now releasing the name of the man who was killed in the officer-involved shooting Wednesday night.

Deputy Coroner Tim Skinner tells 7News that the deceased man was 59-year-old Kevin Nickle.

In the meantime, Ohio BCI&I Public Information Officer Jill Del Greco says their investigators are now looking into exactly what happened in the moments prior to the shooting, as officers encountered the man involved in an active domestic incident.

Del Greco says that is standard practice in cases of this type, and it usually takes at least two months to assemble all the evidence, especially the final autopsy and toxicology reports.

She says the final report will then be forwarded to the Belmont County prosecutor.

Prosecutor Dan Fry has already said he will most likely hand the case over to a special prosecutor, which is also standard practice.
