Bethlehem officer turns himself on several charges, given $50,000 bond

OHIO COUNTY, W Va. (WTRF) - A Bethlehem Police officer turned himself into the Ohio County Sheriff's Office on charges of stalking and violation of a safety order.

According to Sheriff Tom Howard, Daniel Eastham turned himself in on Tuesday morning.

Bethlehem Mayor Tim Bishop has released an official statement on the matter.

"The current investigation and subsequent consequences are personnel matters that cannot be discussed publicly. The charges do not involve the governmental body of the Village of Bethlehem. We cannot comment on that investigation. As is always the case, we will cooperate with the Ohio County Sheriff's office and other investigating departments," Bishop said.

Eastham was arraigned by Ohio County Magistrate Charles Murphy Tuesday afternoon and was given a $50,000 bond.

The case has now been assigned to Magistrate Patty Murphy where a preliminary hearing will be set.
