Man sentenced for arson at McGovern's Pub

MARSHALL COUNTY, W. Va. (WTRF) - In February of 2018, McGovern's Pub in Mozart caught fire and was destroyed. Now, those involved are facing prison time. 

Codi Justin Daugherty, 27, was sentenced in Marshall County Court on Monday to no less than six years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of second-degree arson.

On February 13, police responded to reports of a fire at McGovern's, but instead found the pub ransacked when they arrived. Weeks later, Daugherty was arrested on multiple charges, including second- and third-degree arson.

Also arrested were Kayla McCloud and Michael McGovern, the pub's owner.

All three individuals faced charges of second-degree arson, conspiracy to commit second-degree arson, fourth-degree arson, and burning or attempting to burn insured property.
