Man wanted in connection to shots fired incident waives preliminary hearing

UPDATE 5/25:

A Steubenville man charged will allegedly carrying a concealed weapon and discharging a firearm has waived his right to a preliminary hearing.

Cody Harris was found walking around the city with a gun in his waistband after police responded to a shots fired incident on May 16th.

They said the gun was warm and loaded with a live round, and one man was shot in the leg.

Harris was arrested and appeared in municipal court just hours later.

His case will now go to the Jefferson County Grand Jury.


Steubenville police arrested one man in connection to a shots fired incident that injured one person early Wednesday morning.

Police found Cody Harris on Wednesday morning with a gun in his waistband, which appeared to be warm and loaded with a live round.

At approximately 2 a.m., officers confirm they found one man shot with non-life threatening injuries.

The shooting victim was taken to the hospital.

In Steubenville Municipal Court, Judge John Mascio says he’s “concerned there were shots fired and that a firearm was found on Harris when he was taken into custody.”

Judge Mascio has set a preliminary hearing for May 25th.

His bond has been set at $100,000, and he is currently in the Jefferson County Jail.
