The Wheeling Police Department is currently investigating an alleged armed robbery with shots fired early Monday morning.

Officers received a report of an armed robbery and home invasion in the 800 block of Main Street in North Wheeling at approximately 12:13 a.m.

When officers arrived to the second floor apartment, the victim told them that a man had knocked on the door with a gun and demanded money. The victim then told police that the man shot one shot at the victim and demanded money.

The victim reportedly game the man the money in the wallet.

The victim was with other people inside the apartment at the time of the incident.

No injuries were reported, and detectives did recover a fired bullet.

According to Public Information Officer Philip Stahl, the robber is described as being a light-colored male (specific race unknown by victim’s account), wearing a dark coat and jeans. The man was approximately 6-feet-tall, average build, with tattoos on his face.
