A St. Clairsville doctor charged with trafficking in illegal drugs began his trial Thursday.

Dr. Rodney Curtis sat and listened as the jury viewed several videos of him that had been secretly recorded by a confidential informant. In the video, you could hear the doctor advising her what to say if anyone asked her anything.

One of the police officers on this case testified that another officer, two pharmacy board members, and himself were staked out in a vehicle outside Curtis’s home, and later met the informant in Denny’s parking lot.

On the video, they spoke of the woman going out and getting $100 in exchange for some “adds”.

Officer Tim Starkey explained that “adds” refer to Adderall.

Dr. Curtis operated the now-closed urology practice on National Road next to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

He is charged with three counts of trafficking and two counts of possession.

His case is expected to continue to Friday and Saturday, under Judge Frank Fregiato.
