Two men caught with narcotics in Belmont County

Crimes and Courts

A Bridgeport man and a Moundsville man were pulled over by the Belmont County drug interdiction team on Friday. They were discovered to have several thousand dollars worth of narcotics in the car.

It happened early Friday morning on National Road in Bridgeport. The deputy who pulled them over noticed they were “acting funny,” and one of the department’s drug detecting K9s confirmed the reason.

They called K-9 Xyrem down and he indicated on the car,” said Belmont County Chief Deputy James Zusack. “We ended up getting narcotics out of the vehicle which was I believe 16 grams of crystal meth, some money and drug paraphernalia. So it was a good stop and we got narcotics off the street.”

The passenger, 25-year-old John Gonchoff of Moundsville, is charged with possession, trafficking and possessing drug abuse instruments. The driver, 43-year-old Corey Ullom of Bridgeport, is charged with one count of operating a vehicle while impaired. Chief Deputy Zusack says the crystal meth had a street value of two-thousand dollars.
