According to authorities, Brooke County middle school teacher Timothy Turner is out of police custody after being released on a $50,000 surety bond.
Turner was arrested on Wednesday on a single charge of sexual abuse of a child.
He was arraigned shortly after turning himself in.
Authorities confirm Turner is free until a preliminary hearing is set.
Brooke County Superintendent Toni Paesano Shute told 7News Turner is currently on administrative leave.
According to his staff bio on the district’s website, Turner is currently a music teacher and the president of The Brooke County Education Association, the teachers union for the district.
He also volunteers as a youth minister at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Wintersville and as an assistant scout master for the Boy Scouts, troop 345.
