Welfare check leads to meth & heroin bust, 6 arrests in Monroe County

According to a press release from Monroe County Sheriff Charles Black: 

In just one night, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office took over 130 grams of Meth and Heroin off the streets. The first event was from a Welfare Check on persons in a vehicle by Deputy Barton, which produced over 67 grams of Meth. The second event was from a Traffic stop by Sgt Kevin Warner which produced over 3 grams of heroin, and the third event was a buy bust from the Monroe County Detectives, Monroe County Task Force, and Monroe County Road Units/K-9 which produced 60 grams of Meth. During these three events, 5 subjects were taken into custody in Monroe County, and 1 was taken into Custody in New Martinsville.

On September 4th, 2018 at approximately 2106 hrs, Deputy Barton observed a vehicle sitting on State Property. Deputy Barton then stopped to check on the vehicle and any subjects that might be present. During the Welfare check, Deputy Barton seized over 67 grams of Meth from Hannah Thomas and Gregory Matthews. Both subjects were arrested and transported to the Monroe County Jail. They are currently being held on charges of Bulk Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of Drug Abuse Instruments.

On September 4th, 2018 at approximately 2245 hrs, Sgt Warner performed a traffic stop on a Joseph Lomax for a marked lane violation. During the stop, Sgt Warner seized over 3 grams of Heroin, and arrested Joseph Lomax for Possession of Heroin. Joseph was then transported to the Monroe County Jail and is being held on charges of Possession of Heroin.

On September 5th, 2018, Detectives from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office were assisted by Monroe County Road Patrol Units/K-9, Monroe County Task Force as well as the New Martinsville Police Department, in the seizure of 60 grams of methamphetamine from Monroe & Wetzel counties. Detectives became involved in an investigation on August 31, 2018 which primarily involved Megan L. Thompson of New Martinsville, West Virginia which was knowingly distributing large amounts of methamphetamine within the area. On 9-5-2018, the Monroe County investigators took Jesse M. Glow & Spencer L. Sarver into custody at approximately 00:55 hours in Hannibal, Ohio, as both subjects were complicit in delivering 30 grams of

methamphetamine to Monroe County Detectives. Through further investigation, Monroe County investigators assisted the New Martinsville Police Department in locating Megan L. Thompson at the Ameri Host Hotel where she was found to be in possession of an additional 30 grams of methamphetamine. Megan was then arrested.

Megan L. Thompson is currently being held at the Northern Regional Jail where she is being held on charges of bulk possession of Methamphetamines and Trafficking in Methamphetamines in both Ohio & West Virginia. Jesse M. Glow and Spencer L. Sarver are currently being held in the Monroe County Jail on charges for bulk possession of Methamphetamines & Trafficking in Methamphetamines.
