Wheeling man arrested after fleeing scene of crash

A Wheeling man was arrested early Monday morning after attempting to flee the scene of a vehicle crash, according to Wheeling Police. 

At around 3 a.m., Wheeling Police officers were dispatched to 16th Street in East Wheeling for a vehicle crash. When they arrived, the driver was allegedly on foot attempting to leave the scene through an alley on 14th Street. Police then say that officers were able to catch up to and arrest the suspect.

Arrested was Gary Michael Wade, 44 of Wheeling. He is charged with DUI, marijuana possession, leaving the scene of an accident and fleeing. This is his first DUI charge.

After being taken to a local hospital, he was transported to the Northern Regional Jail.
