Wheeling PD releases surveillance video of bank robbery suspect

Crimes and Courts

Wheeling police have released more surveillance footage of the suspect of Tuesday’s bank robbery in Elm Grove.

The robbery happened at the United Bank on the corner of National Road and Junior Avenue at 1:46 p.m. on Wednesday. Officers searched the National Road business district, the Heritage Walking Trail and Wheeling Creek areas.

Contrary to what was originally reported, the suspect ran down National Road, then up Coal Avenue into an adjacent alley. This video comes from that alley.

The suspect was originally reported to have been wearing a shirt with a gray torso and blue sleeves, but in the newly-released footage, he can be seen removing that shirt and placing it in a dumpster. He then leaves wearing a black undershirt.
