Woman arrested for allegedly carrying drugs in body cavity

Crimes and Courts

According to police, a Bellaire woman who was pulled over on I-70 was found to be allegedly carrying crystal meth inside a condom hidden in her body cavity.

Police said that was particularly dangerous because Sarah Lynn Waryck, 28, of Bellaire is pregnant.

In addition to charges of drug trafficking and possession, she is also facing a charge of endangering children. Allegedly a search of her home on 44th Street in Bellaire also turned up drugs, guns, ammunition and two safes. Chief John McFarland said meth is, unfortunately, making a comeback.

“We’re starting to see, getting more complaints of crystal meth compared to heroin or pain pills. Not so much of the one-pot meth labs that we dealt with a couple of years ago. We haven’t had a whole lot of them. But the information we’re getting in Belmont County is just of crystal meth being brought in from the outside,” said Commander of the Belmont County Major Crimes Unit, John McFarland.

Waryck’s boyfriend who lived in Bellaire with her Shane Danehart, 28, is also jailed now, charged with trafficking, possession, endangering children and participation in criminal gang activity.

Officials believe the two were bringing in meth from Zanesville to sell. Police said several properties in Zanesville have now been searched, and more charges are expected involving other people.
