A Toronto woman has been sentenced to at least two years in jail after she pleaded guilty to driving while impaired causing bodily injury.

Back in February, 37-year-old Cathy Whiting stole a police cruiser when officers responded to the 600 Block of Market Street for a domestic dispute.

Whiting then led officers on a chase before hitting a second police cruiser with officers in it.

“She threw the cruiser in reverse and intentionally rammed at a pretty high speed the second cruiser. Then she fled again, ultimately coming to a stop on the 400 block of Main Street. So, at the end of the night we had four officers that had minor injuries, the two that were in the cruiser that got rammed, and Ms. Whiting assaulted a couple of officers that were monitoring her at OVMC while she was being evaluated there,” said Chief Shawn Schwertfeger back in February.

Judge James Mazzone sentenced Whiting to 2 to 10 years, and to pay full restitution to the victims.

Her blood alcohol content was more than three times the legal limit at the time of the incident.
