The Perkins Fantasy in Lights Parade is a long-time Wheeling tradition, with people lining the streets and claiming their spots hours beforehand.
But this year, businesses like Vagabond Kitchen are offering parade goers a special way to watch.
“We’ve been handing out hot chocolate for the past couple years, well be doing that again this year. That will be the front part of our parade party, which will be an exclusive, ticketed event we’re having inside the restaurant this year,” said Matt Welsch, Owner of Vagabond Kitchen.
The private event will allow people general admission or the chance to rent a booth for a VIP experience.
For just $250, you and three friends can enjoy dinner, wine, and a front row seat of the parade.
“It’s just a nice, more intimate way to enjoy the parade. You can get in out of the weather and hang out with your friends,” Welsch said.
Meanwhile, another business around the corner will give out free hot chocolate and offer games and coloring for kids.
Starting at 6:00 p.m. through the end of the parade, you can spot IC Care, on Main Street, with their Polar Express theme.
They’ll even have some roped off seating for you to enjoy, giving you a perfect spot to watch the parade.
“This will be a free, fun way to get into the Christmas spirit this week. There are a number of Downtown businesses that try to do something to be apart of the community and give back, this is the way IC Care is doing that. We want to be great members of our community,” said Tate Blanchard, Director of Marketing & Communications for IC Care.
IC Care will also hand out Christmas favors, such as light up necklaces, and take donations for a special cause.
“In Belmont County, there have been 219 seniors, this year, that have either been neglected or exploited. Those folks are often forgotten about at Christmas time, so we want to make sure that we can make their holiday a little bit brighter also,” Blanchard said.
But no matter where you decide to spend your evening, make sure to come out and enjoy parade.
It’s the perfect opportunity for some Christmas cheer.
