Some big news for the STEM Club at Wheeling Park.

On Wednesday morning, the club received a check for almost $1,400 and it’s all thanks to their partnership with Southwestern Energy. Officials say this money is huge for the program, which has grown from just seven members last year to more than 40 members to date.

Now, students can focus on starting new projects instead of being worried about money. Club President, Jillian Blair, says she feels ecstatic about the opportunities the check brings, “We have been trying to start a fund for our club for a very long time. We were invited to go to Oglebayfest at the Schrader Center and we raised $46 there and that’s about as much as we’ve had for a long time. So the fact that we have this money now, it’s absolutely amazing. There are so many projects that we have planned. I’m so thrilled that we actually have the money to be able to do some of this stuff now.”

Wheeling Park High School was one of only six schools chosen to receive this check. Officials say they deserve it because of all of their hard work.
