John Marshall High School seniors were recognized for earning more than $1.2 million in scholarships at Monday’s Pride Awards.

That $1.2 million does not include financial awards from West Liberty or West Virginia Universities.

Multiple agencies, from the Chamber of Commerce to the basketball boosters, presented awards to more than 100 students.

Principal Cassandra Porter says she is proud to see the senior class have so much success.

“I hope that we have taught them the skills that they need to be successful. We’ve worked with them for years now to make sure that they follow a career path that’s good for them and make sure they become productive citizens in our community. My wish for them is that they enjoy the rest of their lives,” said Porter.

40 to 50 presenters came to the Pride Awards to recognize those student recipients.

John Marshall seniors had their last day of school on May 11.
