Lieutenant James Fonda has confirmed that 51-year-old Jeffrey McClurg of Worthington, Ohio was killed after being ejected from a vehicle along I-70 westbound.
According to troopers, McClurg was not wearing a seatbelt, and died from a broken neck.
The driver, 58-year-old Leslie Caruso, also of Worthington, was wearing her seat-belt and was taken to Wheeling Hospital.
She has since been released.
Troopers say a pickup traveling with a boat attempted to change lanes, pushing Caruso’s car into the median.
Lieutenant Fonda says they are waiting on toxicology reports.
No charges have been filed.
Breaking news in Belmont County, Ohio State Highway Patrol has confirmed troopers are on the scene of a fatal crash on I-70 westbound.
OSHP confirms one person has been killed.
This crash is shutting down I-70 west of St. Clairsville at mile marker 215. Traffic is being diverted to U.S. 40 westbound back to I-70.
Traffic is heavily backed up right now, use caution.
