Following a landslide vote in the House of Delegates Friday, West Virginia Governor Jim Justice is urging lawmakers in the Senate to pass House Bill 2730.
“I am very pleased that the House of Delegates voted overwhelmingly to pass my clean pay-raise bill yesterday,” said Gov. Justice. “I am now calling on the Senate to do the same and pass the bill as soon as possible.”
The bill would give pay raises to teachers, school personnel, State Police, and all state employees.
This comes days after the teachers began a two-day strike in opposition of charter schools and education savings accounts being included in the reform bill.
If the Senate approve the bill, pay raises will go into effect July 1.
