It’s been over a year and a half since President Trump has taken office.
Numerous regulations and executive orders have passed under the Trump administration. Reviews have been mixed depending on who you talk to.
Congressman David McKinley applauds the work President Trump has done.
He believes people are seeing the benefits.
“I think that there’s some enthusiasm that’s going on. There’s something about his tactic. It may be awkward the way he goes about saying things or tweeting things out, but people are finding some progress. They’re seeing some hope that maybe some regulations are going to be peeled back and get the government off their backs so that they can create jobs again,” McKinley said.
Congressman McKinley added that he likes how President Trump is trying to enforce the southern border with Mexico.
“So that gives us security. People across this country are worried about security because that’s where the drugs are primarily coming from, down in Mexico… It’s not necessarily building a wall. It’s just providing security to stop this,” McKinley said.
The Congressman also likes how the job growth rate has increased under this administration.
“We have a 4.1% growth rate. Remember under Obama for 8 years we never exceeded 2% on an annual basis?… We’re on track to well exceed his best year of 2% under Obama.”
McKinley believes West Virginia is moving in a positive direction under President Trump.
“West Virginia’s personal income is up 14%. When was the last time we had a 14% income growth in one year here? That’s pretty phenomenal,” McKinley said.
President Trump is expected to be in Charleston on Tuesday, August 21st.
