Miracle League event leaves kids feeling “hoppy”

News

There was lots of hoppy energy at Bridge Street Middle School this weekend.

The Miracle League hosted their 5K Bunny Hop Run and Walk there, Saturday.

Organizers said, nearly 100 people registered to enjoy the Easter themed fundraiser. There was no direct competition but the first three finishers were each awarded an Easter Bunny Medallion!

After burning tons of calories, the walk wrapped up with an Easter egg hunt inside of the school’s gymnasium where the kids cracked open their hearts desire of Easter candy.

All the proceeds from the walk go towards funding for the Miracle League, so they can continue their work in providing free, fun, healthy, hands-on activities for kids with special needs.

These kids love life. They’re not unhappy and what they have to deal with daily compared to anybody else… it’s just wonderful to see a smile on their face, said Lorraine Mccardle, President, Miracle League of the Ohio Valley.

There’s lots to look forward to for the Miracle League! Next month, the organization is hosting a football and cheerleading program for kids with special needs and even a spring fling dance.
