A stepfather and daughter both died in a Friday night fire, according to the Eastland Fire Department.
The family identified the step father as Kenny Osteen, who was trying to rescue his 4-year-old stepdaughter Karleigh from the fire, family and officials said.
The fire, officials reported, happened around 11:45 p.m., Friday, at a home in the 200 block of Daughterty Avenue.
Officials also said the father was able to rescue his 7-year-old daughter.
She was transported to a Dallas hospital.
An immediate family member KTAB and KRBC spoke with said she is in the ICU but is expected to survive.
The family member said the the father was returning back inside the house to get the 4-year-old.
They said she was apparently hiding in a closet.
Other family members, including two other children, were in a garage when the fire started, said the family member.
According to the family member, the family did not have health insurance or property insurance, and there is an immediate need for clothing for the entire family.
Donations are being accepted at Eastland Nursing and Rehab.
An investigation is still on going to find out what caused the fire.
