People buying their lottery tickets at Neely’s Drive-Through Grocery have their plans made already.
“Take care of my family,” said Amanda Harper of Byesville, Ohio. “Take care of my community.”
Jason Haswell of The Motverde Group advises that if you win, you should assemble your experts (a financial advisor, a CPA and an attorney) before telling anybody. He also recommends that you make sure your heirs will be well provide for when you’re gone.
“Do you maybe want to give some money charitably?” said Haswell. “A lot of times, with this kind of size to a windfall where someone has a lot of money, they want to look at creating a foundation that supports a certain cause that’s close to their heart.”
Haswell also addressed the labor option. “Are you going to continue to work?” he said. “I think for most people, that answer would be no.”
The Managing Director of The Montverde Group’s Wheeling Branch provided even more advice. “You can still have a great time and have a wonderful life,” Haswell said. ” But just make sure to plan financially and follow some of the advice from professionals.”
Good luck to all of the potential billionaires out there.
